This past November 6th-7th 2022, Dr. Tranquada attended the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH) Global Connections for Sustainable Health Conference in San Jose, California. Here, Dr. Tranquada was able to connect with a variety of CEO's, healthcare executives, and global stakeholders from all across the globe, and who share a vision involving the growth of telehealth and global health equity.

In August 2022, our team at HAEW partnered with VSEE to provide free telehealth in the Philippines with a local nonprofit group, Soup Kitchen Cainta, in Cainta Rizal in the eastern Metro Manila. The people who came to the event were Soup Kitchen Cainta regulars–many of them seniors and children from families that struggle to earn enough for their day-to-day necessities. Children who collect papers and bottles to sell to the local junk shop for added income, their family members, and the elderly who survive by driving jeepneys (colorful mini-bus-like shared taxis) or by taking sewing jobs were among the people served by this mission.

It was a successful first mission for HAEW, with 153 patients served in two days, both with an onsite team from VSEE and an offsite pool of virtual physicians, which included our HAEW team, as well as Konsulta MD, and Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. With this team, the children and their families received medical care and medications as needed.

See link below for more information, and stay tuned for our next telehealth and in-person hybrid mission with VSEE coming January 2023! We will again be part of a group of professions with the intention to see more than 1,000 patients.
